Collision Coverage
This is an optional coverage designed to pay for the cost to repair your own vehicle after being involved in an accident. It only covers damage caused by the impact of your vehicle with another vehicle or object as well as damaged caused by a rollover. If it is determined that someone else is legally responsible for damage to your vehicle, then their liability insurance would pay for your repairs. If, however, the accident is deemed to be your fault or no fault, you are responsible for paying for your own repairs. Car repairs can cost thousands of dollars even for what appears to be minor damage. Many people rely on their vehicle to get them to and from work, and cannot afford to be without it.
Other Than Collision
Other than collision coverage pays almost every other type of direct, accidental loss to the vehicle that is not specifically excluded by the policy. Typical perils that would fall under this category include, but are not limited to the following:
